Manufacturers design most of our products to have a planned obsolescence. This way, we have to replace them and we keep the manufacturers in business. Unfortunately, with 7.5 billion people on the planet this amounts to tons of waste every year.

  • Repair It -Repair the item instead of throwing it away and buying a new one.
  • Recycle – When the item is simply not repairable or usable any longer, be sure and recycle it. Electronics in particular are filled with rare elements that are harder and harder to come by every year.

Note: Be sure and use power strips when you plug in your electronics as many of them stay on and continue to suck energy even in the off state. Turn off the power strip to be sure you’re not using energy.
